Borderline Personality Disorder, the Alternative DSM-5 Model for Personality Disorders, and the SCID-5-AMPD
John M. Oldham, MD, MS
This presentation will focus on the dimensional nature of personality, emphasizing a continuum model from personality styles to personality disorders. The development of the Alternative DSM-5 Model for Personality Disorders (AMPD) will be described, reviewing the hybrid nature of the model that incorporates two dimensional components: 1) level of impairment in functioning, and 2) pathological personality trait domains and trait facets. The use of the semi-structured interview, the Structured Clinical DSM-5 Interview for the AMPD (SCID-5-AMPD) will be demonstrated focusing on a patient with multiple personality disorders, including BPD.
